The 18th of March 2011 The Nordic Environment Finance Corporation (NEFCO) and Bank «Prime Finance» have signed an agreement to finance energy efficiency projects in Russia.
The overall aim of this project is to promote energy efficiency in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region. The first projects financed by NEFCO and Bank «Prime Finance» are expected to be launched during the first half of 2011.
According to the terms of the agreement, Bank «Prime Finance» will set up an environmental fund, which will provide capital for projects that promote energy efficiency in Russia.
Loans are provided to enterprises and companies of all types of ownership, public organizations that implement projects consistent with the priority areas of environmental improvement.

The Nordic Environment Finance Corporation (NEFCO) is an international finance institution established in 1990 by the five Nordic countries: Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden.
To date, NEFCO has financed a wide range of environmental projects in Central and Eastern European countries, including Russia, Belarus and Ukraine. At present, the funds administered by the corporation are valued at some EUR 420 million.
